What a Garage Door Installation in Round Rock Includes
A garage door installation covers the measure, the door, the new track and hardware, springs matched to the finished weight, new bottom seal and stop molding, the opener reconnected and set, and the old door removed. Budget $1,200 to $3,900 fitted, and three to five hours on site.
The measure is the part that decides everything else. Opening width and height, headroom above it, backroom behind it, and the jamb condition set the track radius and whether a standard lift will clear your opener. We take those numbers ourselves rather than working from a drawing.
Springs get calculated to the new door, not carried over. An insulated steel section is heavier than the builder panel it replaces, so the wire gauge and length change, and the drums and cables are set to the new balance.
Signs the Door Itself Has Reached the End
Four cases come up again and again, and only two of them justify a new door. Rust at the bottom section and a cracked stile are structural. Tired hardware and a couple of dents usually are not, and we would rather fit $300 of parts than sell you $2,400 of steel.
| What we find | What we advise |
|---|---|
| The door is sound, the hardware is tired | Repair. Springs, cables, rollers and seal come to a fraction of a new door. |
| One or two sections dented, the rest straight | Repair, if the sections can still be sourced for that model and color. |
| Rust along the bottom section, or a cracked stile | Replace. A corroded bottom section is where the cables and brackets anchor. |
| The door is thin, loud, uninsulated and over twenty | Replace. Repair money on a 25-gauge builder door does not come back. |
Steel Gauge and R-Value in a Texas Garage
Two numbers matter on a steel door. Gauge is thickness, and lower is thicker: a 24-gauge skin resists a stray basketball far better than the 25-gauge builder panel. R-value is insulation, and polyurethane injected between the skins buys both a cooler garage and a much stiffer, quieter section.
The rest is preference. Long panel or short panel, flush or raised, glazing across the top row, faux carriage hardware. Colors are baked on at the factory, and we give you the manufacturer's color name for your records.

Budgeting a New Door: $1,200 to $3,900 Installed
A single non-insulated steel door starts near $1,200 fitted. A double insulated door with windows and decorative hardware reaches $3,900. Most Round Rock jobs land in the middle: an insulated double in a stock color, with new track, springs, rollers and seal, and the old door gone.
| Job | Typical range | What moves the number |
|---|---|---|
| New insulated steel door installed | $1,200 to $3,900 | Single or double, R-value, gauge, windows and hardware. |
| New opener installed | $450 to $790 | Added with the door when the old motor head is past saving. |
| Torsion spring, matched pair | $290 to $600 | Springs are sized to the new door, not carried over. |
| Nylon rollers, set of ten | $110 to $230 | Included on most installs, listed so you can see it priced. |
| Tune-up and safety inspection | $49 to $140 | The 12 month check on a door we have fitted. |
Estimates, not a quote. The firm number comes with the measure, and it is itemized so you can see the door, the hardware and the labor separately.

Call (512) 778-8716Hail, Sun and Street Elevations in Round Rock
Hail is the reason many of these doors come off early. Williamson County averages three to four hail days a year, April being the busiest month, and the worst on record here was the evening of 24 September 2023, when stones up to four inches fell across the city and caused more than $600 million of damage. Garage doors face the street, so they collect it.
Sun does the slower damage. West-facing doors in Behrens Ranch and Siena fade and chalk on the south and west elevations first, and a thin uninsulated panel flexes as it heats, which is what loosens hinges and hardware over the years.
- Measured on site, never quoted off a photograph
- Springs, drums and cables sized to the finished door weight
- Manufacturer color name and spec sheet handed over for your records
If the door is fine and the hardware is not, look at spring replacement or track work first. The full garage door repair in Round Rock list sits on the home page, and the service areas page shows where we install.
Before You Order a Garage Door
How long does a new door take to fit?
Three to five hours for a straight swap on a double opening, longer if the tracks, jambs or opener bracket need rebuilding. We take the old door away the same day. Ordering is the slower part: a stock color and panel style is usually days, a custom finish or glazing can run several weeks.
Can I keep the opener I already have?
Usually. A healthy opener under about ten years old carries a new door fine, though the new door is often heavier, so we reset the force settings and check the drive gears. If the motor is a 1990s chain unit with no photo-eyes, we will tell you it is better spent on the opener than on trim.
Does an insulated door make a real difference here?
In a Round Rock summer, yes. A polyurethane-filled steel door at R-12 or better holds a garage several degrees cooler than a bare 25-gauge panel, which matters if the room above is a bedroom or the garage holds a freezer. It is also noticeably quieter running.
What happens to my old door?
It comes off, gets broken down and leaves on our truck, springs, brackets and hardware included. Steel sections go for scrap. There is no skip on your driveway and no pile behind the garage waiting for bulk collection day.
Will my HOA need to approve the new door?
Many neighborhoods here do review exterior changes, so check your own covenants before you order. Sticking to a similar panel profile and color is normally straightforward. We can supply the manufacturer's spec sheet and color name for your application, but the submission stays yours.
